Bell Pepper Focaccia

Italian cuisine is in general light and simple. My flatmate Fernanda sometimes makes us feeling like we were in sunny Italy and not in the Middle East. Bell Pepper focaccia of Fernanda takes time, but the effect is worth your effort. Check it out!

 

Bell pepper focaccia
preparation time: 20 minute work + 2h20 min growing + 30 minutes baking

What do you need?
600 g wholemeal flour
3 tablespoons olive oil
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon sugar
12 gr of dried yeast
1.5 cups of warm water

stuffing:
2 peppers, cut into strips
1 large onion, cut into feathers
salt, pepper, any herbs

What now?
1 Knead the dough with mentioned ingredients, knead until smooth and elastic.
2 Lubricate with oil, cover with a clean cloth and set aside for 2 hours.
3 In the meantime, fry the onion in a little olive oil, when soft and delicate add peppers and simmer until tender. Season to taste.
4 Divide the dough into two parts and shape each into a flat cake (any diameter).
5 Spread the bottom of the mold lightly with flour. Put first part of dough and Arrange vegetables on it, cover with second part and make it fit. Allow to stand for 20 minutes.
6 Bake 30-35 minutes at 200 ° C.
