Home-made granola

Home-made granola is fun to make as it seems so extraordinary and special. You get to choose your own flavor according to your preferences – nutty, fruity, with chocolate chunks, etc.
I used to make it for Marta, my dearest flatmate. She liked it so much that she’d usually finished a whole jar in on day – simply eating oats out of jar.
There are few rules you should be aware of before you start making your granola:
First of all, always use juice to moisten the oats. Otherwise they will dry up very fast and eventually burn.
Secondly, nuts and seeds can be stirred in while baking or after. However, dried fruits, chocolate chunks, sweeteners such as honey, syrups, etc shall be added at the very end – not to burn them and to maintain their healthy nutrients.
Also, remember to stir oats while baking every 5-6 mins, as it can easily dry up.

Home-made granola
preparation time: 40 minutes

What do you need for 2 l jar?
1 1/4 glass of oatmeal
1 glass of prepared rice
2 handfuls of crushed walnuts
2 handfuls of crushed hazelnuts
3 handfuls of crushed almonds
4 tablespoons honey
200 ml peach juice
1 teaspoon cinnamon
2 handfuls of flax seed
3 tablespoons oil

What now?
1 Mix all the ingredients.
2 Spread them on a baking tray lined with baking paper.
3 Bake about 40 minutes in 180 C, stirring every 6-7 minutes.
4 Leave to cool.
